Steve Smith
Steve Smith, from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, has been a professional musician for 57 years. He performs, teaches, and records with wife Ruth in the Acoustic Americana duo Steve & Ruth Smith. Steve is an ASCAP award-winning songwriter, fingerstyle guitarist, old-time banjo and ukulele player. For 18 years, he taught Recording/Audio Production and Copyrights, Publishing, & Licensing at Appalachian State University, Boone, NC. In the 1970s, Steve worked in Nashville as a songwriter for three publishing companies, performer, and studio musician. Steve and Ruth own Cabin Cove Music , an ASCAP publishing company. Steve teaches workshops nationally at festivals and folk schools on songwriting, guitar, ukulele, clawhammer banjo, music copyrights, publishing, & licensing, and performing and recording techniques.
